6.11 in NYC and SF



June 11th marks three months since Fukushima nuclear/ earthquake disaster.
We condemn nuclear energy and electricity that harms people and the environment.
We are calling the world to join the 1 million people’s action against nukes on June 11th.

People started protesting against nuclear energy and weapons throughout Japan and the world beyond. Germany responded with the closure of all its nuclear power plants, while in Japan, following two major rallies in April 10 and May 7, the government released a request to shut down Hamaoka nuclear plant - one of the oldest and most dangerous.
Nevertheless, Japanese government and TEPCO are confining our demands for information disclosure, continuously ignoring our anxiety, and leaving the matters of evacuation and compensation unsettled.
In addition, the government, with a corporation with the US, is further promoting the use of atom by helping develop nuclear weapons, uranium mining and even more nuclear power plants. The burden of nuclear accidents and radioactive waste dumping will always be put on shoulders of the least powerful — marginalized farmers, fishers, temp workers (freeters), day laborers and homeless folks, military and base workers, aborigines/indigenous, immigrants and children.

Let us voice from outside Japan to demand a better world free of nuclear energy.

東京をはじめとした日本そして世界の各地で、反原発・反核を訴える人々が声をあげ始めました。
ドイツでは原子炉をすべて廃炉にする決定を下し、日本でも４月１０日、５月７日の一斉行動の声を受けて、浜岡原発に停止要請が出されました。
それでも、日本政府と東電はこの間、私たちの不安や情報開示の要求を力づくで封じ込め、避難や補償の問題をうやむやにし、さらに米国と共同で、核兵器やウラン鉱山、原発などを通じた原子力の利用を推進し、
被爆、事故や廃棄物処理の負担を立場の弱い農民、漁民、労働者、フリーターと野宿者、軍隊と基地の関係者、部落民、在日、外国人、原住民、移民、子どもたちに押し付けています。

日本の外からも、原子力に頼らない、よりよい世界を求める声をあげましょう。
